The Make-Up Myth
“I skipped yesterday’s workout - I’ll do two today!”
“I overate yesterday - I’m going to undereat today!”
“I didn’t get every single work task done last week - I’ll work 12 hours every day this week instead of 8!”
This is perfectionism disguised as discipline. If we act on these thoughts, we either follow through and quickly burn out - 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘯 𝘳𝘦𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯.
OR
we're completely overwhelmed, throw it ALL out the window with a vow to start again Monday - 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘯 𝘳𝘦𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯.
Either way, we're back at square one.
Don't fall for the "make-up" myth.
Instead, go back to your plan and adjust according to where you are today.
Focus on showing up for the next 24 hours.
Learn to push yourself gently in the direction of your goals and let go of what didn't happen.
This is progress not perfection in action - and this is the road to your goals.
