The Gifts of Not Overeating During a Pandemic
We want overeating recovery that works in all situations. If there was ever a situation that tested our tools, a viral pandemic is high on the list.
I thought it would be awesome to consider that if you are not overeating – or are using recovery tools to the best of your ability, whatever that means right now – that it isn’t always just a painful slog. You are giving yourself extraordinary gifts!! Here are just a couple of them that I want to take a moment to celebrate:
1. You’re helping the world and you’re saving money - Planning what to eat, and eating what you’ve bought, saves you money (quite a lot of it), and wastes very little (good for your financial health, good for the world).
2. You’re protecting and improving your mental health. Because you feel your emotions without blunting them, you limit fear inputs (esp. negative news feeds) and you’re less likely to be roped into Big Group Panic thinking.
3. You’re creating your life, even when so much feels out of your control. You have access to the cause of your feelings – your THOUGHTS – and you are empowered to think on purpose to create, instead of react to, your life right now.
4. There are things in the world that can cause harm, but YOU aren’t one of them. You’re staying fully rooted in the present moment where you can ALWAYS handle life on life’s terms, instead of harming yourself unnecessarily with substances, including food.
5. WHEN this is over (not if) you’ll emerge at the weight and fitness you want to be – not the weight that happened to you unconsciously.
6. WHEN this is over you’ll feel more empowered and capable. You handled this? You can handle anything.
